Time for two more team season previews!
SHANNON EAGLES 2017 ROSTER
William Dickey, 12, c- Excellent all around backstop.
Adrian Gonzales, 12, 1b- One of the top returning hitters in the league
Rogers Hornsby, 11, 2b- First year in the league but has demolished the pitching all through the Small Fry League. A sure superstar.
Joyner White, 11, of- Speedy leadoff man and centerfielder.
Roberto Clemente, 12, rf- If 'ballplayer' were a word in the dictionary, this guy's picture would be right next to it.
William Johnson, 10, 3b/1b- One of the youngest boys in the league, should be a solid contributor.
Chip Hale, 11, if/of- This kid can play virtually any position. Minnesota transplant.
Walter Maranville, 12, ss- Scrappy and fun-loving, The kid they call "Rabbit" is a little on the small side and his stats are never eye-catching, but he gets it done and wins ball games.
Monte Irvin, 10, lf- Another youngster, should be a solid all-around outfielder. Huge Giants fan.
Endy Chavez, 12, of- Savvy lefty can play all three outfield positions equally well.
Leroy Paige, 11, p- Not much known about this beanpole. Moves around a lot. Appears to be quite the showman on the mound in practices.
Larry French, 11, p- A steady hurler, pitches to contact.
Kenny DeNunez, 11, p- Reportedly has no organized baseball experience but has been playing sandlot ball for years. How good are his fundamentals with no coaching? We will see!
Team Summary: Very young on the bump, but seem to have a lot of position players that know how to win games.
MT. CARROLL HAWKS ROSTER
Jack Lapp, 12, c- Usually a backup behind the plate, should do a solid job as the starter this year.
Todd Benzinger, 12, 1b- Switch hitting first baseman
Javier Baez,11, if/of- Flashy youngster with a flair for the dramatic
Markus Betts, 11, rf- Has torn up every youth league up until now, and there is no reason to think he won't do the same this year. Has all the tools. Friends call him Mookie.
Michael Trout, 11, cf- Built like a brick you-know-what, Mike is a stud player. I am looking forward to his matchups with young Mr. Mantle.
Edwin Joost, 11, 2b/ss- Solid glove man in the middle of the infield, not much of a hitter.
Michael Moustakas, 12, 3b- One of the older players, will be looked at for leadership and solid production at third.
Gerald Walker, 11, of- Speedy kid who is aggressive swiping second.
Austin Jackson, 12, cf- Hits for a high average and covers tons of ground out in center.
Willie Wells, 11, ss- Can flat out hit. Will be in the hunt for league MVP.
Charles Radbourn, 11, p- Workhorse. Old school. Salty. Does not suffer fools lightly.
Johnny Vander Meer, 12, p- Threw back-to-back no-hitters last season.
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh, 12, p- Has given himself the nickname "Nuke", which gives you an idea of what kind of mentality his coaches are dealing with here. Great arm, no clue.
Team Summary: They are young but should be able to pound the ball. Pitching might determine how well they do. Some interesting personalities on that pitching staff for sure!
We are closing in on opening day! I gotta get everything done and posted!
