Welcome to the CCJBL blog!

May 13, 2017.

Welcome to the official blog for the Carroll County Junior Baseball League! You can check in here to find league schedules, news, results, game summaries, league standings... well, just about anything you can think of to keep you informed of what is going on in the CCJBL! Whaddya say we get started with some team rosters and previews! After all, opening day is only a couple of weeks away!

SAVANNA INDIANS 2017 ROSTER

Hector Espino, 12, 1b/of- Not much is known about Hector since he just moved to Savanna from Mexico. Rumored to have torn up Mexican youth baseball with his prodigious power.

Frankie Frisch, 12, if- Can play all over the infield.

Benito Santiago, 11, c- This kids got a rifle arm, let me tell ya.

Collin Cowgill, 11, of- Really, really great name for a midwestern farm town player.

Mickey Mantle, 12, cf- What can't this kid do? Speed to burn in center, led the CCJBL in home runs last season as an 11-year-old!

Felix Mantilla, 12, if- Role player.

David Freese, 11, 3b- Built his reputation with a heroic clutch performance in the league Coach-Pitch tournament a few years back.

Harold Reese, 10, SS- One of only three 10-year-olds in the league. Nicknamed Pee Wee, but don't let that fool you, he plays big!

Christopher Sabo, 12, 3b/of- Solid player. Best known for wearing some odd looking athletic goggles.

Michael Kingery, 12, 1b/of- Adds depth and hits for a high average.

Greg Maddux, 12, p- Not an imposing looking kid, but has precise control and can throw a lot of junk for a pitcher his age! Somehow always gets an extra inch or two on the outside corner from the umpires.

William Cummings, 12, p- Has a great curveball. In fact, claims to have INVENTED the curveball. May just like to spin tall tales, or might be mentally unstable. Nicknamed Candy so I assume he has quite the sweet tooth!

John McCall, 12, p- Called "Windy" by his buddies.

Team Summary: Looks like a solid, veteran bunch. Young Mr. Maddux will certainly earn his share of wins and Mickey will be a nightmare in the middle of the lineup. Espino is a wild card. Is he as good as we have heard?

MILLEDGEVILLE MISSILES 2017 ROSTER

Kirt Manwaring, 11, c- Solid catcher with a really good arm and defensive skills.

John Kruk, 12, 1b- Quite a character I've heard. Not exactly a model of physical fitness, however. Nobody told me that. I've seen him.

Eric McNair, 12, if- Plays all infield positions well except first. Loves swing music.

Harry Craft, 10, cf/1b- Can cover some ground in the outfield. Also an old soul.

Ewart Walker, 11, of- Not gonna lie. Not a terribly nice kid. Might be the unfortunate first name. Prefers to be called Dixie.

Jimmy Bloodworth, 11, if- Now THAT is a great name! Much better than Ewart, for sure.

Martin Dihigo, 12, if/of- Recently left his native Cuba. Milledgeville coaches say he appears to be able to play every position on the field at a high level and has plus power at the plate.

Dalton Carriker, 12, ss/3b- Not much is known about this kid. Recently moved from Georgia. Apparently hit a pretty clutch home run for his old Little League team.

Rickey Henderson, 11, of- Thinks very, very highly of his abilities but can back it up!

Jarrod Dyson, 12, of- Adds good depth at the outfield positions.

Fernando Valenzuela, 11, p- Keeping the art of the screwball alive. Immensely likeable, also. You just want to hug him!

Raymond Brown, 12, p- This kid should dominate.

Hilton Smith, 12, p- Underrated hurler with an exceptional curve. I believe he has played some ball in Kansas City previously.

Team Summary: Might have the most complete set of pitchers in the league. Exceptional versatility defensively.

Well, that's all for today! I will get the other four teams previewed in the next couple days!
